Ads on Max
If you subscribe to the With Ads plan, ads will play before and during shows and movies (about 4 minutes of ads per hour). Ad breaks are marked on the progress bar when you pause playback.
To stream without ads, change your plan to the Ad-Free or Ultimate Ad-Free plan. To skip promotional trailers that play before a show or movie, choose the Skip button.
Here's how to find your subscription plan:
- In Max, do one of the following:
- Phone, tablet, or computer: Choose your profile and then Subscription.
- TV device: Choose the Settings icon and then Subscription.
(Only Adult profiles can manage subscriptions.)
- Here you'll find your current plan.

At this time, you can expect about 4 minutes of ads per hour. When an ad break starts, the number of ads in the ad break appears on screen. There's also a timer that counts down to the end of the ad.
Ad breaks during kids and family content have bumpers to let you know when an ad break starts and ends.
You can pause a show or movie to see the location of ad breaks on the progress bar.
No, fast forward and skip aren't available when an ad is playing. If you'd like to watch without ads, change your plan to the Ad-Free or Ultimate Ad-Free plan.
You may see a specific brand more often while watching a series, a long movie, or a similar genre (like comedy). Brands can also sponsor shows and movies. When you're watching sponsored content, you may see a similar ad at the beginning of each episode.
You can give us feedback or report an issue with an ad using our feedback form. When you do this, please provide the following info:
- The product or brand
- The show or movie you were watching
