Max account sharing
Max accounts are intended for the account holder (the person who created the account) and the people they live with.
If you don't live with the account holder, you need to sign up for your own Max account. For more info, go to How do I subscribe to Max?
You can share your Max account with the people who live with you (the people in your household).
People who don't live with you (including family members who don't live with you), need to sign up for their own Max account.
Max accounts are intended for the account holder (the person who created the account) and the people they live with.
If you don't live with the Max account holder, you may get a message suggesting you get your own account. If you get this message and you're the account holder, you have two options:
To verify your account, we'll send a code to your account email address. To verify your account:
- Choose This is My Account.
- Choose Send Code.
If your email address isn't associated with the Max account, you'll need to complete these steps with the account holder. - Check your inbox for an email from Max with the subject: Your One-Time Max Code. This email should arrive within a few minutes. Be sure to search all inbox folders (including Promotions, Junk, and Spam).
- Open the most recent One-Time Code email and enter the code from the email.
If the code doesn't work, choose Get New Code to get another code emailed to you.
Now you can continue streaming Max.
You can subscribe at Max.com, using the Max app, or via an internet, mobile, or TV provider. For more info, go to How do I subscribe to Max?
If you live with the account holder and get prompted to get your own account, follow the Verify Your Max Account steps above.
If someone outside of your household uses your account, the account holder may get an account sharing message or email. If this happens, we recommend changing your password and reviewing the devices using your account:
To make sure only you and the people you live with have access to your account, change your password. In the account sharing message or email, choose Reset Password or go to auth.max.com/account/edit/password. For more info, go to Change your password.
After you change your password, people in your household will need to sign in again with your new password.
To make sure only you and the people you live with have access to your account, review the devices that are signed in to your account. Here's how:
- Sign in to Max on your phone, tablet, or computer. Can't sign in?
- Choose your profile, then Account > Devices.
(Only Adult profiles can manage devices.) - Review the list of devices signed in to your account, including the profile name, sign-in date, and country.
- Don't own or use a device? Choose X beside a device to sign your account out of the device.
If you think someone outside of your household has access to your account, change your password. This will sign your account out of all other devices.
To determine which devices are considered part of your household, we use account and profile information along with a combination of network and device information (including IP addresses, device IDs, and user activity) chosen at our discretion.
If you live with the account holder and get prompted to get your own account, follow the Verify your Max account steps in the Get your own account section above.
You can review the devices signed in with your Max account and sign out of some or all devices. To find out how, go to Manage your Max devices.
The number of devices in your household that can stream at the same time depends on your subscription plan. For more info, go to Max subscription plans.
