Forgot my Max email or password

If you're having trouble signing in, use the following info to reset your password or find your account email or mobile number.

Can't access your email or mobile number?
If your account email has a typo or you no longer have access to your email address or phone, please contact us.

Reset your password

If you don't know your Max (or HBO GO) password, you can reset it. You need to have access to your account email in order to reset your password.

To reset your password, choose the device you're using:

Phone, tablet, or computer
  1. Do one of the following:
  2. Enter your Max (or HBO GO) account email and choose Submit. Forgot your account email?
  3. Check your inbox for a Max Password Reset email. This email should arrive within a few minutes.
  4. Open the most recent Password Reset email and choose Reset Your Password.
  5. Enter a new password and choose Save.

Now, sign in with your account email and your new password.

If you don't get a Max Password Reset email, go to Can't reset password.

Apple TV
  1. Open Max on your Apple TV and choose Sign In.
  2. Choose Use Email Address.
  3. Choose Forgot Password?
  4. Enter your Max (or HBO GO) account email and choose Submit. Forgot your account email?
  5. Check your inbox for a Max Password Reset email. This email should arrive within a few minutes.
  6. Open the most recent Password Reset email and choose Reset Your Password.
  7. Enter a new password and choose Save.

Now, sign in with your account email and your new password.

If you don't get a Max Password Reset email, go to Can't reset password.

Find your account email or mobile number

If you don't know your account email or mobile number, here are a few things to try:

Search your email
  • Search all of your email accounts for an email from Max (if you previously subscribed to HBO GO, try searching for HBO GO).
  • Be sure to search all inbox folders (including Promotions, Junk, and Spam).

Once you find the email account associated with Max (or HBO GO) emails, try signing in with this email address.

Find your email or mobile number in Settings

If you're signed in to Max on a device, try the following:

  1. In Max, do one of the following:
    • Phone, tablet, or computer: Choose your profile and then Account.
    • TV device: Choose the Settings icon cog (lower left) and then Account.
  2. Find your account email and mobile number (if added).

If you don't find an account email, try signing in with your mobile number. If your account has an email, try resetting your password.

Try another email address

Do you have another email address that could be associated with your account? If you do, try these steps:

  1. Go to max.com/forgot-password.
  2. Enter another email address of yours and choose Submit.
  3. Wait a few minutes and check your inbox for a Max Password Reset email.

If there's an account associated with the email that you entered, you'll get a Max Password Reset email. If you don't get this email, try these steps for each of your email accounts.

Try your mobile number

If you think you may have used your mobile number to create your account, try signing in with your mobile number (instead of your email address).
