How do I subscribe to Max?
Things to know
- Find out if you already have access to Max (e.g., HBO subscribers).
- You can sign up on your device or through a third-party provider.
Sign up on your device
Choose how you'd like to sign up:
Here's how to subscribe to Max:
- Go to max.com/product.
- Choose a subscription plan and billing period, then continue.
- On the Get Started screen, enter an email address for your Max account (if you already have a Max or HBO Max account, enter your account email).
- Do one of the following:
- New subscribers: Complete the account form and choose Create Account. You'll sign in with this info. Check your email and password message?
- Returning subscribers: Enter your Max (or HBO Max) password and choose Sign In.
Forgot password? Try resetting your password.
- Add your payment method and start your subscription.
Your bank may require you to verify your identity with 3D-Secure before authorizing the transaction. If you have trouble with 3D-Secure, please contact your bank. - Choose Start Streaming and you're ready to watch Max.
Now you can sign in and stream Max on any supported device. Your subscription will continue until you cancel it.

Are you a new or returning Max (or HBO Max) subscriber?
Note Subscriptions through Amazon are not available in all countries. If you can't subscribe via the Amazon Appstore, you can sign up at max.com.
- Open Max and choose Subscribe Now.
- Choose a subscription plan and billing period, then continue.
- Complete the account form and choose Create Account. You'll sign in with this info.
Check your email and password message? - Follow the on-screen instructions to subscribe.
- Choose Start Streaming and you're ready to watch Max.
Note Check with your app store to find out which payment methods are accepted. Not all payment methods are accepted for recurring subscriptions.
Now you can sign in and stream Max on any supported device. Your subscription will continue until you cancel it.

Use Email Address (finish on your TV)To finish signing up on your TV:
- Choose Use Email Address.
- Enter your first and last name, then continue.
- Enter your email address and password, and choose Create Account. You'll sign in with this info.
Check your email and password message?
- Do one of the following:
- Follow the on-screen instructions to subscribe.
- On your TV, choose Start Streaming and you're ready to watch Max.
Now you can sign in and stream Max on any supported device. Your subscription will continue until you cancel it.

Sign up through a provider
Subscription plans vary by provider. For a complete list of providers, go to Max providers.
Internet, mobile, or TV provider
Contact your internet, mobile, or TV provider to sign up for Max. For a list of providers, go to Max providers.
Once you've signed up for Max, download the Max app and Activate your Max subscription.
Troubleshooting
If you get this message, there may already be a Max (or HBO Max) account with the email address you entered.
In this case, do one of the following:
- Sign in. Sign in using the email address you entered on the 'Create Your Account' screen. If you have trouble signing in, try resetting your password.
- Enter another email address. Enter a different email address for your Max account.
If you're still having trouble subscribing, contact us.
If the 6-digit code isn't working, here are some things to try:
- Try scanning the QR code on your TV with your phone's camera app.
- Try using a different browser (Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, or Safari).
- Try using a private or incognito browser window.
- Try signing up on a different device.
Try signing out and then back in again. Here's how:
- In Max, do one of the following:
- Phone, tablet, or computer: Choose your profile and then choose Sign Out.
- TV device: Choose the Settings icon and then Sign Out.
- Sign in to Max and try to watch something.
If this doesn't help, go to Fix a Max subscription issue.
If you're signing up at max.com, go to Can't add a payment method.
If you're signing up through the Max app, check with your app store to find out which payment methods are accepted. Not all payment methods are accepted for recurring subscriptions.
If you're signing up through another provider, check with them to find out what payment methods they accept.
Sometimes we'll ask you to solve a puzzle to help keep your account secure. If you're having trouble with the Captcha puzzle, choose Restart to try again or Audio Challenge to access your account another way.
If you get this message, you may have signed up for a Max (or HBO Max) account in another country or region with the email address you entered. To fix this issue, do one of the following:
Enter another email address. Enter a different email address for your Max account.
Change your account email. Sign in at max.com/account and change your email to a different email address. Then, go back to the Create Your Account screen and enter your original email address.
