How do I subscribe to Max?
Things to know
- Find out if you already have access to Max (e.g., HBO GO subscribers).
- You can sign up on your device or through a third-party provider.
Sign up on your device
Choose how you'd like to sign up:
Malaysia and Thailand: The Mobile plan is not available at Max.com. Instead, you'll need to subscribe to Max through the Apple, Google, or Samsung app store.
Are you a new or returning Max (or HBO GO) subscriber?
- Go to max.com/product.
- Choose a subscription plan and billing period, then continue.
- On the Get Started screen, enter your email address or mobile number (if available) for your Max account, then continue.
- Complete the account form and choose Create Account.
- Verify mobile number: If you're creating an account with your mobile number, enter the 6-digit code sent to your mobile number.
- Add your payment method and start your subscription.
- Choose Start Streaming and you're ready to watch Max.
Singapore subscribers: If you're 21 or older, you'll be prompted to add a Profile PIN to your account. This PIN is required to access R21 content. For more info, go to Max Profile PIN.
Now, you can sign in and stream Max on any plan-supported device. Your subscription will auto-renew on a recurring basis until you cancel.
You can add your mobile number or email to your account as an additional sign-in method. To find out how, go to Change your account info.

- Move down and choose Create Account. You'll sign in with this info.
'Check your email and password' message?Choose Try Again to go back and reenter your email and password, or choose Sign In and try signing in with your email address.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to subscribe.
- Choose Start Streaming and you're ready to watch Max.

Use Mobile Number- Choose Use Mobile Number.
- Enter your first and last name, then continue.
Press the Select or OK button on your remote to open the on-screen keyboard. - Enter your mobile number, then move down and choose Create Account. You'll sign in with this info.
'Check your mobile number' message? - Open the text message that was just sent to your mobile number and enter the 6-digit verification code. Didn't get a text message?
- Follow the on-screen instructions to subscribe.
- Choose Start Streaming and you're ready to watch Max.

Sign up through a provider
Subscription plans vary by provider. For a complete list of providers, go to Max providers.
Contact your internet, mobile, or TV provider to sign up for Max. For a list of providers, go to Max providers.
Once you've signed up for Max, download the Max app and Activate your Max subscription.
Troubleshooting
If you get this message, there may already be a Max (or HBO GO) account with the email address you entered.
In this case, do one of the following:
- Sign in. Sign in using the email address you entered on the 'Create Your Account' screen. If you have trouble signing in, try resetting your password.
- Enter another email address. Enter a different email address for your Max account.
If you're still having trouble subscribing, contact us.
If you get this message, choose Try Again to go back and reenter your mobile number, or choose Sign In and try signing in with your mobile number.
You should get a new text message after entering your mobile number. If you didn't get a text message, try the following:
- Make sure the mobile number you entered is correct.
- Choose Get New Code to send another text message. You should get a new text message within a couple minutes.
- Make sure your phone can receive text messages (check your cell phone signal strength and make sure Airplane mode is turned Off).
- Make sure your phone is not set to block messages from unknown senders.
- Try restarting your phone.
If the 6-character code isn't working, here are some things to try:
- Try using a different browser (Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, or Safari).
- Try using a private or incognito browser window.
- Enter the code from your TV on your computer instead of your phone (or vice versa).
- Try signing up on a different device.
Try signing out and then back in again. Here's how:
- In Max, do one of the following:
- Phone, tablet, or computer: Choose your profile and then choose Sign Out.
- TV device: Choose the Settings icon
and then Sign Out.
- Sign in to Max and try to watch something.
If this doesn't help, go to Fix a Max subscription issue.
If you're signing up at max.com, go to Can't add a payment method.
If you're signing up through the Max app, check with your app store to find out which payment methods are accepted. Not all payment methods are accepted for recurring subscriptions.
If you're signing up through another provider, check with them to find out what payment methods they accept.
Sometimes we'll ask you to solve a puzzle to help keep your account secure. If you're having trouble with the Captcha puzzle challenge, choose Restart to start the challenge over.
You can also choose Audio Challenge to secure your account another way.
If you get this message, you may have signed up for a Max (or HBO GO) account in another country or region with the email address you entered. To fix this issue, do one of the following:
Enter another email address. Enter a different email address for your Max account.
Change your account email. Sign in at max.com/account and change your email to a different email address. Then, go back to the Create Your Account screen and enter your original email address.
