Already have a Max (or HBO GO) account? Great! Here's how to sign in.

New subscription?
If you get Max through an internet, mobile, or TV provider, you need to Activate your Max subscription before you can start streaming.

Choose the device you're using:

Here's how to sign in to the Max app:

  1. Open Max and choose Sign In.
    Already signed in? Choose your profile (upper right) and then Sign Out.
  2. Enter your Max (or HBO GO) account email or mobile number, and choose Continue.
    Email or mobile number doesn't look right?
    Note You can add your mobile number to your account as an additional sign-in method.
  3. Do one of the following:
  4. Choose who's watching and you're ready to stream.

Need to switch accounts? To sign in to a different Max account, choose your profile (upper right) and then Sign Out. Once signed out, choose Sign In.

Email, password, or mobile number doesn't look right message

How are you trying to sign in?

Email and password

Reset your password

Try resetting your password. Here's how:

  1. On the sign-in screen, choose Forgot Password?
  2. Enter your Max (or HBO GO) account email and choose Submit. Forgot your account email?
  3. Check your inbox for a Max Password Reset email. This email should arrive within a few minutes. Didn't get the email?
  4. Open the most recent Password Reset email and choose Reset Your Password.
  5. Enter a new password and then choose Create Password.

Now, sign in with your account email and new password. You can also add your mobile number to your account as an additional sign-in method.

Mobile number

Here are some things to try:

  • Make sure the mobile number you entered is the mobile number associated with your Max account. You need to add your mobile number to your account before you can sign in with it.
  • Try signing in with your account email and password.
Didn't get a text with one-time code?

If you're signing in with your mobile number, you should get a new text message after entering your mobile number. If you didn't get a text message, try the following:

  • Make sure the mobile number you entered is correct. You need to add your mobile number to your account before you can sign in with your mobile number.
  • Choose Get New Code to send another text message. You should get a new text message within 1 minute.
  • Make sure your phone can receive text messages (check your cell phone signal strength and make sure Airplane mode is turned Off).
  • Make sure your phone is not set to block messages from unknown senders.
  • Try restarting your phone.

Can't verify your subscription or Welcome back message

Make sure your account has an active Max subscription. For help with this, go to Fix a subscription issue.

'Your device time is out of sync' error

If you get a 'Your device time is out of sync' error on your phone or tablet, make sure the date and time are correct on your device. For help, go to Google’s Set date & time article or Apple’s iPhone: Change time or iPad: Change time article.

Can't solve the Captcha puzzle?

Sometimes we'll ask you to solve a puzzle to help keep your account secure. If you're having trouble with the Captcha puzzle challenge, choose Restart to start the challenge over.

You can also choose Audio Challenge to access your account another way.

Here's how to sign in on your computer:

  1. Go to max.com/login on your computer.

Here's how to sign in on your TV device:

  1. Install the Max app.
  2. Open Max and choose Sign In.
    Already signed in? Choose the Settings icon cog (lower left) (lower left) and then Sign Out.

Now, choose a TV sign-in option:

Use a Code

Scan the QR code on your TV to sign in. Here's how:

  1. Stay on the TV screen with the QR code while you grab your phone or computer.
  2. Do one of the following:
    • Open your phone's camera app and point your camera at the QR code on your TV. Then, tap the link that appears on your phone.
      iPhone or Android QR steps.
      -or-
    • On your phone or computer, go to max.com/signin. Then, enter the 6-digit code from your TV. Code not working?
  3. Now, on your phone or computer:

  4. Enter your Max (or HBO GO) account email or mobile number, and then choose Continue.

TV code not working?

If the 6-digit code isn't working, here are some things to try:

  • Open a private or incognito browser window and then go to max.com/signin.
  • Try signing in another way (e.g. choose Max Mobile App).
  • Try using a different supported browser (Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, or Safari).
  • Enter the code from your TV at max.com/signin on your computer instead of your phone (or vice versa).
Use Max Mobile App

Sign in on your TV using the Max app on your phone or tablet. Here's how:

  1. On your phone or tablet, open Max and sign in (if needed). Keep the Max app open and active.
  2. Then, on your TV device:

  3. On the Sign In screen, choose Use Max Mobile App (on the left).
    (This option is not available on all TV devices.)
  4. Stay on the Sign In screen while you grab your phone or tablet.
  5. Now, on your phone or tablet:

  6. Go back to Max and choose Allow when asked if your TV can sign in to your Max account.
    You'll be signed in on your TV.
  7. Go back to your TV, choose who's watching and you're ready to stream.
No sign-in prompt?
  • Make sure you're signed in to Max on your mobile device.
  • Make sure your mobile device and TV device are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
  • Close and reopen Max on your mobile device.
  • Try signing in another way: Scan a Code or Use Email Address.
Use Email Address

Sign in on your TV using your email address. Here's how:

  1. On the Sign in screen, choose Use Email Address (on the left).
  2. Enter your Max (or HBO GO) account email and password, and then choose Continue.
    Email or password doesn't look right?
    If you have trouble entering your info on your TV, press the Select or OK button on your remote to open the on-screen keyboard.
  3. Choose who's watching and you're ready to stream.
Use Mobile Number

Sign in on your TV using your mobile number (if you've added your mobile number to your account). Here's how:

  1. On the Sign In screen, choose Use Mobile Number (on the left).
  2. Enter your mobile number that's associated with your Max account, and then choose Continue.
    Mobile number doesn't look right?
  3. Enter the 6-digit code sent to your mobile number, and then choose Submit.
    Didn't get a text message?
  4. Choose who's watching and you're ready to stream.
