Sports on Max

When you add the Sports Add-On (or the Premium & Sports plan on Apple devices) you can get front-row access to prestigious live events, league action, and tournaments, including the 2024 Roland-Garros and Tour de France.

Sports Add-On Q&A

The Max Sports Add-On is the place for premium live sports content.

In addition to live sports, the Sports Add-On includes pre- and post-game programming, multi-sport on-demand content, special features, and live series.

With the Sports Add-On, you can watch select events, including:

  • Stream Eurosport 1 and Eurosport 2
  • 2024 live cycling, tennis, and more
  • Includes the 2024 Roland-Garros and Tour de France

The Sports Add-On is billed monthly and pricing varies by country. For pricing info, go to max.com/sports. A base subscription plan is required (or the Premium & Sports plan on Apple devices).

The Sports Add-On is billed separately from your base subscription plan (it appears as a separate line item on your credit card or bank statement).

When you subscribe to Max you'll choose a base subscription plan and the optional Sports Add-On (or on Apple devices you can choose the Premium & Sports monthly plan).

If you already have a base subscription, there are 2 ways to add Sports:

  1. In Max, choose Sports (top of screen).
  2. Choose a sports event.
  3. Choose Get Sports and do one of the following:
    • Choose to add the Sports Add-On to your base plan.
    • Choose the Premium & Sports monthly plan (if your base subscription is billed through Apple).
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to add the Sports Add-On.
    If you get an error message, go to Troubleshooting.
  5. Confirm the change and add your payment information.
  1. In Max, do one of the following:
    • Phone, tablet, or computer: Choose your profile and then Subscription.
    • TV device: Choose the Settings icon cog (lower left) and then Subscription.
      (Only Adult profiles can manage subscriptions.)
  2. Choose Get Add-Ons (or Change Plan if your subscription is billed through Apple). For more info, go to Change your Apple-billed plan.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to add the Sports Add-On.
    If you get an error message, go to Troubleshooting.
  4. Confirm the change and add your payment information.

When you add the Sports Add-On to your base plan, you'll be billed monthly until you remove the Sports Add-On or cancel your base subscription plan. The Sports Add-On is billed separately from your base subscription plan (it appears as a separate line item on your credit card or bank statement).

If you add the Sports Add-On at max.com, the Sports Add-On will appear on your bank statement as WBDSports.

If you have the Sports Add-On (or the Premium & Sports monthly plan billed through Apple), do the following:

  1. In Max, choose Sports (top of screen).
    Here you'll find live and upcoming games and sports events, along with recent highlights and replays.
  2. Choose the sports event you want to watch.
  3. Choose Watch Live to start watching the event in progress or Watch from Start arrow pointing backward to start watching at the beginning.

Things to know about watching Sports on Max:

  • Player controls: When watching a live event you can pause, fast forward, rewind, and jump to what's happening live (Go Live button). For more info, go to Max player controls.
  • Devices: Sports can be streamed on any supported device. Depending on your device, you can watch live sports in up to HD 1080p with SDR and Dolby Atmos audio. You can also use Chromecast, AirPlay, or an HDMI cable to watch live sports on your TV.
  • Quality: Depending on your device and the speed of your internet connection, you can watch live sports in up to HD 1080p with SDR and Dolby Atmos audio. Select events are available in HDR10 or Dolby Vision.
  • Replays: Replays are available for select events after the broadcast ends.
  • Ads: Live sports have the same commercials that air during the TV broadcast of the event.

Troubleshooting

If you get this message, it means you need to add the Sports Add-On on the device where you started your Max base subscription.

First, find who bills you for your base subscription:

  1. Open Max and do one of the following:
    • Phone, tablet, or computer: Choose your profile and then Subscription.
    • TV device: Choose the Settings icon cog (lower left) and then Subscription.
      (Only Adult profiles can manage subscriptions.)
  2. Find who your base subscription is billed through (top of screen).
  3. Now, find who your subscription is billed through below:
  • HBO Europe, s.r.o. or HBO Nordic AB: Go to max.com/subscription, sign in (if needed), and choose Get Add-Ons
  • Amazon Appstore: Open Max on an Amazon Fire TV or tablet, then follow the Add Sports steps above.
  • Apple: Open Max on an iPad, iPhone, or Apple TV, then change your base plan to Premium & Sports. For more info, go to Change an Apple-billed plan.
  • Google Play: Open Max on an Android TV, phone, or tablet, then follow the Add Sports steps above.
  • Samsung TV: Open Max on a Samsung TV, then follow the Add Sports steps above.

If you get this message, you need to contact your subscription provider (the company who your Max base subscription is billed through) to add the Sports Add-On to your base plan.
