HBO Max is now Max
HBO Max is now Max. Here's what you need to know:
On devices where you had HBO Max installed, do one of the following:
- Amazon, Cox, Roku, VIZIO TV, Xfinity: Find the Max app and open it.
- Android, Apple, DIRECTV, LG TV, PlayStation, Samsung TV, Xbox: Open HBO Max and choose Download.
You can also go to the app store on your device, search for Max, and choose the download option. Once you've installed Max, you can delete the HBO Max app.
If you're having trouble updating to the Max app:
Android TV: If the HBO Max app appears when you try to access Max, try deleting the HBO Max app. For delete steps, go to Google's Delete apps article. Once deleted, open the Max app.
Roku: To update your HBO Max app to Max: On your Roku, use the direction pad to highlight the HBO Max channel. Press the star (*) on your remote and choose Check for Updates.
How do I sign in to Max?
If you're not signed in after updating to Max, here's what to do:
- Subscribed through an app store or HBOMax.com? Choose Sign In and enter your HBO Max email and password.
- Subscribed through a TV, internet, or wireless provider? Follow the Connect your provider steps.
Max brings all the programming that you love from HBO Max together with favorites from Discovery TV brands: HGTV, the Food Network, TLC, Magnolia Network, and more – all for the same great price.
Max combines the worlds of HBO, the DC Universe, plus hit movies, and original series together with fan-favorite genres like true crime, reality, food, and comedy.
Max includes:
- All of HBO Max: HBO series and movies, Max Originals, and select series and movies from Warner Bros., the DC Universe, Cartoon Network, the Turner Library, Looney Tunes, Adult Swim, and more.
- Discovery favorites: The best real-life shows from your favorite TV brands: HGTV, the Food Network, TLC, ID, Magnolia Network, Discovery, and more.
Max will have something for everyone—popular series like Friends, the HBO Original series Game of Thrones, 90 Day Fiancé, Rick and Morty, The Big Bang Theory, Deadliest Catch, and Fixer Upper.
As well as plenty of hit movies, indie favorites, and critically acclaimed documentaries.

Current HBO Max subscribers have access to Max.

How do I sign in to Max?
You shouldn't need to sign in on devices where you had HBO Max installed, but if you do, here's what to do:
- Subscribed through an app store or HBOMax.com? Choose Sign In and enter your HBO Max email and password.
- Subscribed through a TV, internet, or wireless provider? Follow the Connect your provider steps.
If you subscribed to HBO Max in the past:
- Install Max and sign in with your HBO Max email and password. When you do this, you'll be prompted to renew your subscription and add your payment info. For more info, go to Resubscribe to Max.
If you get HBO with your cable or satellite TV package, you may have access to Max at no extra cost. To find out if your TV provider supports Max, go to max.com/provider and search for your provider (or find your provider on the Max providers page).

Note If you have an HBO Max account, sign in to Max with your HBO Max email and password and then choose Renew subscription. For more info, go to Resubscribe to Max.
Max is available on many different devices. To find out which devices, go to Max supported devices.
Your HBO Max profiles, watch history, and your settings (including parental controls) are available in Max.
There are two things that don't transfer to Max:
- HBO Max downloads: You'll need to download your shows and movies again with Max.
- Custom profile pictures: If you had a custom profile picture in HBO Max, you'll see a generic profile icon in Max (Max doesn't support custom profile photos). If you'd like to choose a different profile avatar, go to Add and manage Max profiles.
You can add a Profile PIN to any Adult profile to keep other people in your household from using your profile (e.g., prevent your kids from accessing your profile). For more info, go to Add a Profile PIN.
Each of your profiles has a My Stuff area with your Continue Watching list and My List.
If you subscribed to HBO Max through us or an app store, there won't be any immediate changes to your subscription price. The Max plan prices are the same as HBO Max:

Subscribe through a provider?
If you subscribe through a TV, mobile, or wireless provider, your provider will let you know of any price or plan changes.
Max is currently available in the US. We plan to launch Max in more countries by the end of the year.
Before traveling to another country, be sure to download shows and movies (you can't stream Max outside of the US just yet).
If you subscribe to HBO Max, you can install the Max app and stream HBO Max and select Discovery content together on Max.
discovery+ will continue as a stand-alone service.
