Can't reset Max password

Here's how to reset or add a password:

  1. On your phone or computer, go to max.com/forgot-password.
  2. Enter your Max or HBO Max account email and choose Submit. Forgot your account email?
  3. Check your inbox for a Password Reset email sent by Max. This email should arrive within a few minutes.
  4. Open the Password Reset email and choose Reset Your Password.
  5. Enter a new password and then choose Create Password.
    Your new password should be at least 10 characters with no more than 4 repeating characters in a row.

Now, sign in to Max with your account email and your new password.

If you don't get a Password Reset email from max@service.max.com within a few minutes, try the troubleshooting below.

Troubleshooting

If you can't reset your password, here are some things to try:

Search your email
  • Search all of your email accounts for an email from Max (if you previously subscribed to HBO Max, try searching for HBO Max).
  • Be sure to search all inbox folders (including Promotions and Spam).

Once you find the email account associated with Max or HBO Max emails, try signing in with this email address.

Try another email address

Do you have another email address that could be associated with your account? If you do, try these steps:

  1. On your phone or computer, go to max.com/forgot-password.
  2. Enter another email address of yours and choose Submit.
  3. Wait a few minutes and check your inbox for a Password Reset email sent by Max.

If there's a Max or HBO Max account associated with the email that you entered, you'll get a Password Reset email. If you don't get this email, try these steps for each of your email accounts.

Find your account email in Settings

If you're signed in on a device, here's how to find your account email:

  1. In Max, do one of the following:
    • Phone, tablet, or computer: Choose your profile and then Account.
    • TV device: Choose the Settings icon cog (lower left) and then Account.
  2. Take note of your account email address.
  3. Go to max.com/forgot-password, enter your account email, and then choose Submit.
  4. Wait a few minutes and check your inbox for a Password Reset email sent by Max.

Apple: Try restore purchase

If you signed up through the Apple App Store using the Max app, try restoring your subscription. Here's how:

  1. Open the Max app on the Apple device where you subscribed.
  2. Choose Sign In.
  3. Apple TV: Choose Use Your Remote.
  4. On the sign-in screen, choose Restore Purchase.

If we find an active Max subscription in the Apple App Store, we'll sign you into your Max account.
