Sign in to Max

Already have a Max (or HBO Max) account with an email and password? Great! Here's how to sign in.

Connect your provider
If you get Max through a TV, internet, or wireless provider, you need to Connect your provider account before signing in to Max.

Which device are you using?

Here's how to sign in on your phone or tablet:

  1. Open Max, choose Sign In and then Sign In again.
    Already signed in? Choose your profile and then Sign Out.
  2. Enter your Max or HBO Max account email and password, then choose Sign In.
    Need help? Go to Troubleshooting.
  3. Choose your profile and you're ready to stream.

Note  Your HBO Max profiles, watch history, and settings are available in Max.

Troubleshooting

'Email or password doesn't look right' message

If you get this message, try resetting your password. Here's how:

  1. On the sign-in screen, choose Forgot Password?
  2. Enter your Max or HBO Max account email and choose Submit. Forgot your account email?
  3. Check your inbox for a Password Reset email sent by Max. This email should arrive within a few minutes.
  4. Open the Password Reset email and choose Reset Your Password.
  5. Enter a new password and then choose Create Password.

Now, sign in with your account email and new password.

No password reset email?
If you don't get a Password Reset email, go to Can't reset password.
'Can't verify your subscription' message

Make sure Max is included with your TV, internet, or wireless package. To do this, sign in to your provider account on your provider's website and make sure Max is included. For more info, go to Can't connect your provider.

Sign in to provider prompt

You may need to periodically sign in to your TV, internet, or wireless provider account that includes access to Max. Here's how:

  1. On the Sign in to Provider screen, choose Connect.
  2. Choose or search for the company you get Max through.
  3. On your provider's sign-in screen, enter your provider account info and choose Sign In.
Welcome back message. What should I do?

If you have an active Max subscription and get a Welcome back message, go to Fix a Max subscription issue.

Can't solve the Captcha puzzle?

Sometimes we'll ask you to solve a puzzle to help keep your account secure. If you're having trouble with the Captcha puzzle challenge, choose Try another puzzle or Restart to start the challenge over.

You can also choose Audio Challenge to secure your account another way.

Here's how to sign in on your computer:

  1. Go to max.com on your computer and choose Sign In.
    Already signed in? Choose your profile and then Sign Out.
  2. Enter your Max or HBO Max account email and password, then choose Sign In.
    Need help? Go to Troubleshooting.
  3. Choose your profile and you're ready to stream.

Note  Your HBO Max profiles, watch history, and settings are available in Max.

Troubleshooting

'Email or password doesn't look right' message

Choose the TV sign-in option you're using:

Scan QR Code

Scan the QR code on your TV using your phone's camera and then sign in on your phone. Here's how:

On your TV device:

  1. In Max, choose Sign In.
    Already signed in? Choose the Settings icon cog (lower left) and then Sign Out.
  2. Stay on the screen with the QR code while you grab your phone or computer.
  3. Do one of the following:
    • Scan the QR code on your TV with your phone's camera.
      -or-
    • On your phone or computer, go to max.com/signin. Then, enter the 6-character code from your TV. Code not working?
  4. Now, on your phone or computer:

  5. Enter your Max or HBO Max account email and password, and then choose Sign In.
    Need help? Go to Troubleshooting.
  6. Go back to your TV, choose who's watching and you're ready to stream.

Code not working?

If the 6-character code isn't working, here are some things to try:

  • Open a private or incognito browser window and then go to max.com/signin.
  • Try signing in another way (e.g. choose Use Your Remote).
  • Try using a different supported browser (Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, or Safari).
  • Enter the code from your TV at max.com/signin on your computer instead of your phone (or vice versa).
Link With Wi-Fi (on some devices)

Choose this option if your phone and TV are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

On your phone or tablet:

  1. If you're not already signed in, open Max on your phone or tablet and sign in. Keep the Max app open and active.
  2. On your TV device:

  3. In Max, choose Sign In.
    Already signed in? Choose the Settings icon cog (lower left) and then Sign Out.
  4. Choose Link With Wi-Fi (on the left).
    (This option is not available on all TV devices.)
  5. Stay on the Link With Wi-Fi screen while you grab your phone or tablet.
  6. Now, on your phone or tablet:

  7. Go back to Max.
  8. Choose Allow when asked if your TV can sign in to your Max account.
    You'll be signed in on your TV.
  9. Go back to your TV, choose who's watching and you're ready to stream.
No sign-in prompt?
  • Make sure you're signed in to Max on your mobile device.
  • Make sure your mobile device and TV device are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
  • Close and reopen Max on your mobile device.
  • Try signing in another way: Scan QR Code or Use Your Remote.
Use Your Remote

Sign in on your TV using your TV remote. Here's how:

  1. Open Max on your TV and choose Sign In.
    Already signed in? Choose the Settings icon settings and then Sign Out.
  2. Choose Use Your Remote.
  3. Enter your Max or HBO Max account email and password, and then choose Sign In.
    If you have trouble entering your info on your TV, press the Select or OK on your remote to open the on-screen keyboard. Need help? Go to Troubleshooting.
  4. Choose who's watching and you're ready to stream.
