Change your account info

Mistyped email or no longer have access?
If you mistyped your email address when you created your account or no longer have access to your account email or phone, please contact us.

You can change your Max account info (email, password, mobile number, and name) on your phone, tablet, or computer.

What would you like to do?

Change email
  1. Sign in to Max on your phone, tablet, or computer. Can't sign in?
  2. Choose your profile and then Account.
  3. Choose the Edit icon pencil next to Email Address.
  4. Enter a new email address and choose Save. We'll send an email to your current email address.
    Can't access current email? If you don't have access to your current email address, please contact us for help.
  5. Check your inbox for an email from Max (email subject: Please confirm email address change). This email should arrive within a few minutes. Didn't get the email?
  6. Open this email and choose Confirm Change.

Your email address is updated (sign in on all devices with your updated email address).

Add email and password

If you created your account with your mobile number, you can add your email as an additional sign-in method. Here's how:

  1. Sign in to Max on your phone, tablet, or computer. Can't sign in?
  2. Choose your profile and then Account.
  3. Choose Add Email Address and Password.
  4. Enter the 6-digit code from the text message that was sent to your mobile number.
  5. Enter your email address and a password for your account.

Now you can sign in with your email and password or your mobile number.

Change password
  1. Sign in to Max on your phone, tablet, or computer. Can't sign in?
  2. Choose your profile and then Account.
  3. Choose the Edit icon pencil next to Password.
  4. Enter your current password. Can't update password?
    If you don't know your password, you can reset your password instead.
  5. Enter a new password and choose Save.

Your password is updated and your account is signed out of all devices. Now, sign in to Max with your new password.

Change mobile number
  1. Sign in to Max on your phone, tablet, or computer. Can't sign in?
  2. Choose your profile and then Account.
  3. Choose the Edit icon pencil next to Mobile Number.
  4. Enter your mobile number and choose Verify Mobile Number. You'll get a text message with a verification code.
    Need help? Go to Troubleshooting.
  5. Enter the code from the text message and choose Save.

Now, sign in to Max with your new mobile number.

Add mobile number

If you created your account with your email address, you can add your mobile number as an additional sign-in method. Here's how:

  1. Sign in to Max on your phone, tablet, or computer. Can't sign in?
  2. Choose your profile and then Account > Add Mobile Number.
  3. We'll send an email to your account email address.
  4. Check your inbox for an email from Max (email subject: Your One-Time Max Code). This email should arrive within a few minutes. Didn't get the email?
  5. Enter the 6-digit code from the email.
  6. Enter your mobile number and choose Verify Mobile Number.
  7. Enter the 6-digit code from the text message that was sent to your mobile number.

Now you can sign in with your mobile number or your email and password.

Change name
  1. Sign in to Max on your phone, tablet, or computer. Can't sign in?
  2. Choose your profile and then Account.
  3. Choose the Edit icon pencil next to Name.
  4. Enter a new first and last name and choose Save.

Troubleshooting

'Please use a different mobile number' message

If you get this message, it may mean that the mobile number you entered is already associated with a Max account. Make sure the mobile number you entered is correct.

'Please use a different email address' message

If you get this message, it may mean that the email address that you entered is already associated with a Max (or HBO GO) account. Double-check the email address that you entered and/or use a different email address.

Didn't get a text message?

If you didn't get a text message with a verification code, try the following:

  • Go back and repeat the Add or change mobile number steps.
  • Choose Get New Code to send another text message. You should get a new text message within a couple minutes.
  • Make sure your phone can receive text messages (check your cell phone signal strength and make sure Airplane mode is off).
  • Make sure your phone is not set to block messages from unknown senders.
  • Try restarting your phone.

'We couldn't update your password' message

If you get this message, it means the password you entered doesn't match what we have for your account. To resolve this, try the following:

  • Retype your current password (choose the Eye icon to reveal your password as you type it).
  • Reset your password. To do this, go to max.com/forgot-password and enter your account email.

Didn't get the email?

If you didn't get a confirmation email from max@service.max.com, try these things:

  • Search all inbox folders (including Promotions, Junk, and Spam) for an email from Max (email subject: Please confirm email address change).
  • Try the Change email steps again with a different email address. Your new account email can't be associated with another Max (or HBO GO) account.
