Change an Apple-billed subscription
If you subscribed on your iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV, here's what you need to know about changing your Apple-billed subscription.
Billed through another provider? Go to Manage a Max subscription.

- In Max, do one of the following:
- Phone, tablet, or computer: Choose your profile and then Subscription.
- TV device: Choose the Settings icon and then Subscription.
(Only Adult profiles can manage subscriptions.)
- Here you'll find your current plan. Explore Max plans.

Need help signing in? Go to Can't sign in.
Your subscription automatically renews on your next billing date. Here's how to find your next billing date:
- On your iOS device, open the Settings app.
- Choose your name and then choose Subscriptions (if prompted, sign in with your Apple ID).
- Choose your Max subscription and take note of your next billing date.
- Your Max subscription automatically renews until you cancel it.
- Deleting the Max app does not cancel your subscription.
- Cancel your subscription at least 24 hours before your next billing date to avoid further charges.
Here's how to cancel your Apple-billed subscription:
- On your iOS device, open the Settings app.
- Choose your name.
- Choose Subscriptions (if prompted, sign in with your Apple ID).
- Choose your Max subscription and then Cancel Subscription.
- On your Apple TV, choose Settings > Users & Accounts and then [account name] Subscriptions.
- Choose Max and then Cancel Subscription.

Once canceled, you should get an email from Apple confirming your cancellation. You can continue streaming until your subscription expires at the end of your billing period.
You can resubscribe to Max at any time.
Try these things:
- Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID you used to purchase your subscription.
- Go to the Apple device where you started your subscription and view your subscriptions using the steps above.

- On your iPhone or iPad, open the Settings app.
- Choose your name.
- Choose Payment & Shipping (if prompted, sign in with your Apple ID).
- Choose the payment method you want to change and then edit your info.

- Follow the on-screen prompts to change your plan through Apple.
Once your subscription is updated, you should get an email from Apple confirming the change.

When will my plan change take effect?
The effective date depends on the change:
- If you change to a lower-priced plan or Monthly billing, your plan change will happen on your next billing date.
- If you change to a higher-priced plan or Yearly billing, your plan change happens immediately. Apple will refund you for the remaining days on your subscription plan and charge you for your new plan. Your next billing date will be adjusted.
If you're getting a 'Subscription Paused' message, it may be due to a payment error.
To resume your subscription, update your Apple ID payment method. Here's how:
- On your iPhone or iPad, open the Settings app.
- Choose your name.
- Choose Payment & Shipping (if prompted, sign in with your Apple ID).
- Choose the payment method you want to change and then edit your info.

- Deleting your account will not delete the app from any devices.
- If you create a new Max account with the same email address, it won't have your previous settings, downloads, and watch history.
Here's how to delete your Max account:
Step 1: Cancel your subscription
You'll need to cancel your subscription before you submit a delete request. To find out how to cancel, go to How do I cancel? You can continue streaming Max until your subscription expires.
Step 2: Submit a delete request
Once your Max subscription has expired, you can submit a delete request.
Choose your device:
- In Max, choose your profile. Can't sign in?
- Choose Privacy & Terms and then Delete My Account. The app will open a browser window.
- Enter the information associated with your account and submit the form. If you don't know your Max account email, go to Forgot my Max email.
- Check your inbox for an email on behalf of Max (the subject line is: Your request to delete your account).
- Open this email and choose Delete My Account.
- Open a browser and go to max.com/account-delete.
- Enter the information associated with your account and submit the form. If you don't know your Max account email, go to Forgot my Max email.
- Check your inbox for an email on behalf of Max (the subject line is: Your request to delete your account).
- Open this email and choose Delete My Account.
Once you complete these steps, we'll delete your Max account if the account qualifies. The account deletion process usually takes 4 to 5 weeks. You'll receive an email letting you know when your account has been deleted.
