Change an Apple-billed subscription

If you subscribed on your iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV, here's what you need to know about changing your Apple-billed subscription.

Which plan do I have?
  1. In Max, do one of the following:
    • Phone, tablet, or computer: Choose your profile and then Subscription.
    • TV device: Choose the Settings icon cog (lower left) and then Subscription.
      (Only Adult profiles can manage subscriptions.)
  2. Here you'll find your current subscription plan.

When is my next billing date?

Your subscription automatically renews on your next billing date. Here's how to find your next billing date:

  1. On your iOS device, open the Settings app.
  2. Choose your name and then choose Subscriptions (if prompted, sign in with your Apple ID).
  3. Choose your Max subscription and take note of your next billing date.
How do I cancel?
Things to know
  • Your Max subscription automatically renews until you cancel it.
  • Deleting the Max app does not cancel your subscription.
  • Cancel your subscription at least 24 hours before your next billing date to avoid further charges.

Here's how to cancel your Apple-billed subscription:

iPhone or iPad
  1. On your iOS device, open the Settings app.
  2. Choose your name.
  3. Choose Subscriptions (if prompted, sign in with your Apple ID).
  4. Choose your Max subscription and then Cancel Subscription.
Apple TV
  1. On your Apple TV, choose Settings > Users & Accounts and then [account name] Subscriptions.
  2. Choose Max and then Cancel Subscription.

Once canceled, you should get an email from Apple confirming your cancellation. You can continue streaming until your subscription expires at the end of your billing period.

You can resubscribe to Max at any time.

Can't find your Max subscription?

Try these things:

  • Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID you used to purchase your subscription.
  • Go to the Apple device where you started your subscription and view your subscriptions using the steps above.

How do I change my payment method?

Here's how to change your Apple ID payment method:

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the Settings app.
  2. Choose your name.
  3. Choose Payment & Shipping (if prompted, sign in with your Apple ID).
  4. Choose the payment method you want to change and then edit your info.

How do I change my plan?

You can change your plan or billing period on your iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV.

iPhone or iPad
  1. In Max, choose your profile. Can't sign in?
  2. Choose Subscription and then Change Plan.
  3. Choose a subscription plan and billing period.
  4. Follow the on-screen prompts to change your plan through Apple.

Once your subscription is updated, you should get an email from Apple confirming the change.

Apple TV
  1. In Max, choose the Settings icon cog (lower left) and then Subscription. Can't sign in?
  2. Choose Change Your Plan.
  3. Choose a subscription plan and billing period.
  4. Follow the on-screen prompts to change your plan through Apple.

Once your subscription is updated, you should get an email from Apple confirming the change.

When will my plan change take effect?

The effective date depends on the change:

  • If you change to a lower-priced plan, your plan change will happen on your next billing date.
  • If you change to a higher-priced plan, your plan change happens immediately. Apple will refund you for the remaining days on your subscription plan and charge you for your new plan. Your next billing date will be adjusted.
  • If you only change your billing period, your change will happen on your next billing date.
My subscription is paused. What should I do?

If you're getting a 'Subscription Paused' message, it may be due to a payment error.

To resume your subscription, update your Apple ID payment method. Here's how:

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the Settings app.
  2. Choose your name.
  3. Choose Payment & Shipping (if prompted, sign in with your Apple ID).
  4. Choose the payment method you want to change and then edit your info.
