How do I subscribe to Max?

Sign up on your device

Choose how you'd like to sign up:

Max.com

Here's how to subscribe to Max:

  1. Go to max.com/product.
  2. Choose a subscription plan and billing period, then continue.
  3. On the Get Started screen, enter an email address for your Max account (if you already have a Max or HBO Max account, enter your account email).
  4. Do one of the following:
  5. Add your payment method and start your subscription.
    Your bank may require you to verify your identity with 3D-Secure before authorizing the transaction. If you have trouble with 3D-Secure, please contact your bank.
  6. Choose Start Streaming and you're ready to watch Max.

Now you can sign in and stream Max on any supported device. Your subscription will auto-renew on a recurring basis until you cancel.

Android, Apple, or Amazon device

Are you a new or returning Max (or HBO Max) subscriber?

Note Subscriptions through Amazon are not available in all countries. If you can't subscribe via the Amazon Appstore, you can sign up at max.com.

New subscriber
  1. Open Max and choose Subscribe Now.
  2. Choose a subscription plan and billing period, then continue.
  3. Complete the account form and choose Create Account. You'll sign in with this info.
    Check your email and password message?
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to subscribe.

    2. Enter your first and last name, then continue.
    3. Enter your email address and password, and choose Create Account. You'll sign in with this info.

  5. On your TV, choose Start Streaming and you're ready to watch Max.

Sign up through a provider

Subscription plans vary by provider. For a complete list of providers, go to Max providers.

Choose how you'd like to sign up:

Internet, mobile, or TV provider

Contact your internet, mobile, or TV provider to sign up for Max. For a list of providers, go to Max providers.

Once you've signed up for Max, download the Max app and Activate your Max subscription.

Prime Video Channels (in select countries)

Amazon Prime members can add Max to Prime Video Channels. To subscribe through Amazon Prime, go to amazon.com/channels/max. Once you add Max, you can stream all of Max using the Prime Video app.

To stream using the Max app, download the Max app and Activate your Max subscription before signing in to Max.

Troubleshooting

'Check your email address and password' message

If you get this message, there may already be a Max (or HBO Max) account with the email address you entered.

In this case, do one of the following:

  • Sign in. Sign in using the email address you entered on the 'Create Your Account' screen. If you have trouble signing in, try resetting your password.
  • Enter another email address. Enter a different email address for your Max account.

If you're still having trouble subscribing, contact us.

TV code not working?

If the 6-digit code isn't working, here are some things to try:

  • Try scanning the QR code on your TV with your phone's camera app.
  • Try using a different browser (Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, or Safari).
  • Try using a private or incognito browser window.
  • Try signing up on a different device.
Can't stream after resubscribing?

Try signing out and then back in again. Here's how:

  1. In Max, do one of the following:
    • Phone, tablet, or computer: Choose your profile and then choose Sign Out.
    • TV device: Choose the Settings icon cog (lower left) and then Sign Out.
  2. Sign in to Max and try to watch something.

I'm getting a payment error

If you're signing up at max.com, go to Can't add a payment method.

If you're signing up through the Max app, check with your app store to find out which payment methods are accepted. Not all payment methods are accepted for recurring subscriptions.

If you're signing up through another provider, check with them to find out what payment methods they accept.

Can't solve the Captcha puzzle?

Sometimes we'll ask you to solve a puzzle to help keep your account secure. If you're having trouble with the Captcha puzzle, choose Restart to try again or Audio Challenge to access your account another way.

'That email address can't be used' message

If you get this message, you may have signed up for a Max (or HBO Max) account in another country or region with the email address you entered. To fix this issue, do one of the following:

Enter another email address. Enter a different email address for your Max account.

Change your account email. Sign in at max.com/account and change your email to a different email address. Then, go back to the Create Your Account screen and enter your original email address.
